An email mailing list is a quick and simple way to keep your audience in the loop about your latest work. Sending updates directly from your business email address to clients might seem easier and personal, but are you confident these emails are getting through to the recipients?
By using an email marketing client such as Mailchimp, you can see reports on who has received and opened your emails, and what they clicked on - meaning you can easily find out if that ‘Very Important Person’ has seen your newsletter and then contact them personally. It also allows potential contacts to very easily sign up to your mailing list, or quickly unsubscribe (you don’t want to annoy people who no longer want to receive your emails!).
Our favourite mailing list system is Mailchimp; we recommend it to all of our clients. It is very easy to use and is free for mailing lists up to 2000 subscribers - and still very affordable beyond that!
Have a text-only version of your email newsletter
Plain text emails only include text, no images or formatting, which some subscribers prefer. Many council or educational organisations have IT systems that will still only accept plain-text emails, which sounds archaic but it’s sadly the case. If you are trying to target educators or local authorities, then make sure you offer this option. Plain text campaigns are useful when you want to send a simple email featuring only your essential content. Mailchimp offer the option to send both plain text emails and full HTML emails.
We specialise in helping our clients achieve their goals. We have previously built email campaigns for clients, set them up on Mailchimp, integrated into their websites and provided email marketing training.
