Rich snippets are used to provide a summary about a search result, which can help draw the right traffic to your website. As long as the snippet is clear on what content will appear when clicking on the search result, you should hopefully attract someone that wants to view your website. In order for these to work on your website, your web developer would need to incorporate open standards such as microdata, microformats or RDFa in their web pages.
